- Booking fee
- Host institution elective package
- Local registration fees
Travel, visas, insurance, medical checks and personal costs are not included.
New for 2027: the Widening Access Elective Award
We are introducing a second award this cycle for students recognised as Widening Access by their university. This will be for the same prize, up to £1,500 towards elective fees. Students who aren’t successful in the main draw will be emailed in January 2027 and invited to self-nominate for this second round aimed at recognised widening-access applicants to medicine or dentistry.
Eligibility is confirmed directly with the student’s university before the award is confirmed.
Why we are introducing the award
- To celebrate another year of Fair Trade Electives
- To encourage early booking
- To support equitable access and widen participation
Where students can go
FTE partners with hospitals in countries including Sri Lanka, Nepal, Kenya and India, offering structured, supervised electives shaped and led by local healthcare teams.
Ready to begin?
Fair Trade Electives is committed to setting a new standard for ethical elective placements, and we look forward to welcoming you in 2027.
