Following a successful first year, we’re delighted to relaunch our Funded Elective Award for 2027. We’re funding two UK-based clinical students booking a Fair Trade Elective in 2027, with fees fully covered up to £1,500 each.
If you are a UK-based clinical medical student booking an elective with one of our partner institutions across Africa and Asia for 2027, you’re automatically in with a chance.
What’s covered
The award covers:
- The booking fee
- Partner institution fees / elective package
- Local registration fees
It doesn’t cover flights, visas, insurance, medical checks, vaccinations or personal travel costs.
How to enter
No separate application needed. Every student who books a 2027 elective before 31 December 2026 is automatically entered into the draw. The winner will be announced in January 2027, with notification by email by 31 January 2027.
New for 2027: the Widening Access Elective Award
We’re introducing a second award this cycle, specifically for students recognised as Widening Access by their university. It carries the same prize — up to £1,500 towards elective fees. Students who aren’t successful in the main draw will be emailed in January 2027 and invited to self-nominate for this second round. Eligibility is confirmed directly with the student’s university before the award is confirmed.
