We are really happy to announce the arrival of our first students at Western Regional Hospital in Pokhara, Nepal, a major milestone for Fair Trade Electives and the beginning of an exciting new partnership.
As one of Nepal’s leading teaching hospitals, Western Regional is at the forefront of clinical care and medical education in the region. Our students will be immersed in meaningful placements, gaining hands-on experience while learning from committed healthcare professionals and witnessing the complexities of global health in context.
“We’re proud to welcome the first Fair Trade Electives students to Pokhara,” said Bimal Baral and Phil Palmer. “This partnership brings a fresh and ethical approach to electives, one that values collaboration, mutual respect, and long-term learning for everyone involved.”
These placements are designed not only to benefit students, but also to support local teaching teams, reinforce ethical engagement, and contribute to a fairer model of global education exchange.
We look forward to building on this collaboration and continuing to welcome students to Pokhara in the years ahead.
