Student Vlog: Life at Uganda Lodge

One of the best ways to understand what an FTE placement is really like is to hear directly from students who are living it. In this new vlog we are excited to share Henry’s first-hand account from Uganda Lodge — one of our newest host sites. Henry reflects on his clinical experience and what it means to take part in a placement in Uganda.

About Uganda Lodge

This elective is based with Stand on Your Own (SOYO) at Uganda Lodge in Ruhanga, Ntungamo District. The Lodge sits beside the Ruhanga Development Nursery & Primary School, creating a unique setting where students can observe how education, health and community wellbeing intersect in rural Uganda. Students divide their time between the District General Hospital and the on-site McNeil Medical Centre, gaining experience across medicine, surgery, paediatrics, O&G and community health

If you are a current or former FTE student who would like to contribute a vlog or written reflection from your placement, please get in touch at info@ften.co.uk. We are always keen to share student voices and experiences!
